What are you spreading?

Philippians 2:1-2 (New International Version)

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.

Doesn’t this verse sound wonderful? It paints such a beautiful picture of unity – being like-minded and having the same love for one another. It’s not just a pretty picture, it’s actually the plan that God has for us as his children. And Jesus even left us a helper in the Holy Spirit to help us accomplish it. It’s

We can’t do it alone. We need the Holy Spirit to renew our minds and perfect our love for those around us. If we haven’t been filled with the Holy Spirit lately, then this is where we need to start. Ask God to fill you afresh with His Spirit. Ask to have your mind renewed and your heart filled with his love so that it can pour of you to those around you. There are so many people in our community and in our world that need someone to care; someone to show just a little bit of love.

We have to choose. Unity is a choice. So is division. These two spirits are vying for your attention and affection. Which one will you choose to walk in today? We don’t have to agree with someone 100% of the time to be in unity with them. As a matter of fact, we can disagree and still love one another. If there’s anything our world needs right now, it’s people committed to show the world that just because I disagree with you doesn’t mean I have to turn my love for you off.

We have to seek unity. It doesn’t happen by accident. If we want unity with those around us, we must be purposeful in our words and actions. We are living now in a world where many of the people around us don’t know Jesus……..they don’t even know about Jesus. What if the words you are sharing on your Facebook page were the only evidence they had for what being a Christian is all about? Would they see a representation of the verses listed above or something else?

Unity or Division.

Which one are you speaking?

Which one are you spreading?
